Custom Sizing & Option Details
Our custom table tops are made to order, customized to the specifications you select. For fully finished tops, please allow 2-3 weeks for production and finishing, plus an average of 3-5 days shipping time. Our finished, DIY tops typically ship within 5-10 business days depending on customizations selected.
Step 1. We carefully hand select boards to construct the top to the size you selected. These boards are then milled and assembled into your table top.
Step 2. The assembled table top is then flattened on both sides to ensure a flat, even surface resulting in a thickness of 1 1/2 - 1 3/4" thick. If the thickened edge option is chosen, they are built with the same process, but are built 6-7" wider and longer, resulting in approximately 3" outer edge thickness of 3 - 3 1/2" thick. Click here to see image of underside of thickened edge table top.
Step 3. The flattened top is handed over to our finishing team, who will trim it to its final size. If you chose a sculpted live edge, this detail is added on one or both sides. For DIY unfinished tops, this marks the final step before shipping, after which you will need to complete the following steps to finish your DIY table top.
Step 4. The team begins by addressing any cracks and voids on the surface and edges (excluding the bottom) with an epoxy fill, utilizing a mixture of sawdust and epoxy to achieve a natural color. As the epoxy is sanded and reapplied, the team meticulously sands the tabletop until it reaches the desired finish quality.
Step 5. Ready for finish, the underside of the tables is coated with a Satin Lacquer finish, typically our custom builds are finished with Rubio Monocoat Oil + 2C, which offers a matte appearance , a very natural looking finish. As this is an oil finish, it is applied by rubbing the oil into the wood, absorbing and protecting against water, heat, and everyday wear. For clients desiring a glossier look, a commercial-grade satin pre-catalyzed lacquer finish is applied. Our pre-cat lacquer is applied by spraying on top of the wood surface, forming a durable, hard finished, acting as a barrier against scratches and moisture.
Shipping & Delivery
We aim for your delivery experience to match the exceptional quality of our products. Our table tops are custom-made to order, typically requiring 2-3 weeks for completion. Unfinished table tops are carefully packaged on a handcrafted pallet that exceeds the dimensions of the table top by approximately 2 inches in both width and length. For fully finished table tops, we utilize a custom crate that is generally 5 inches larger in both dimensions. If you opt for our free shipping, it includes pickup at your nearest freight terminal, with the pickup address provided via email a few days post-order. Once dispatched from our warehouse, delivery usually takes about 3-5 days, and the freight terminal will notify you when your package is ready for collection. For residential delivery, there is a nominal upgrade fee of $134.95, which ensures the package is delivered to your specified address. However, please note that this is curbside delivery, so assistance will be necessary to unload the package from the freight truck. Liftgate service is available upon request for an additional fee. Commercial deliveries are available for $69.95. After your order is placed, we will verify that the address is a legitimate commercial location. Once shipped, you will receive tracking information solely from the freight carrier, so please ensure you are available to accept the delivery.

Care
For daily care, we recommend using a damp rag on wood surfaces. When wiping the surface, go with the grain, typically the length of the table top, as moving in circles or across the grain could cause scratching on the surface. Although our finishes are heat and water resistant, remember to always use a trivet or hot pad holder on items too hot too touch, and its always best practice to use a coaster for sweating drinks when you can.

FAQ
Common Questions
Q: Are these pictures of the actual slab(s) I will receive, or just one similar? The pictures you see with this listing are pictures of the exact slab you will receive. Each item is listed as a one of a kind product that can only be sold once. See the “Description” tab for more details regarding this item.
Q: I don't need both (or all) slabs, can I just purchase one of them? Unfortunately, we cannot split up any of the packages. However, we do have slabs that are sold in singles as well. You can narrow your search down by using our search filters that correlate with your dimensions. You may also use our online chat service to speak with a wood expert while that can help you find various options while you are browsing.
Q: How do the slabs come if I don’t select any finishing options? A majority of our slabs are planed on both sides before they are listed on the site. This helps smooth out some of the marks left from the saw. You would then have some sanding to do before a finish was applied.
Q: Can you guys custom cut this slab to my dimensions? Absolutely! We have a full shop that can custom cut any of the slabs. If you have any drawings or sketches of your design, you can always send those directly to service@thelumbershack.com to discuss your project with one of our wood experts!
Q: I see I can add epoxy to my order. What do you offer, and how do I specify want I want? We do offer epoxy fill services on any slab that is being fully finished by us. This is a popular choice for river table slabs, or any slabs that may have some larger voids or cracks. We use TotalBoat and West Systems epoxy, and have many different colors and shades in blue, gold, copper, black, white, red, purple, and many more! If you would like to add this to your order, please add a note in the notes section when you go to checkout. From there, someone from our team will contact you with a quote and to discuss your design details.
Q: Does “live edge” mean there is still bark on the slab? The term live edge does not necessarily mean that the slab still has bark on the edges. Often times, the bark has fallen off, and the live edge refers to the surface just below the bark. This has a smoother texture than bark, but still has a very natural look. If the bark is still intact, this will be listed in the Product Features section of the listing.
Q: It says the slab has been planed on both sides. How is that different from flattening? Most of our slabs are finished planed on both sides. This means the slab was ran through our planer to smooth out the surface of the wood. The main difference is that the planer will not flatten/sand out any of the tapers, bows, cups, or twists that the slab is listed with. You can find these details in the Description section of this listing. The flattening services would remove any tapers, bows, cups, or twists listed with that slab, leaving you with a perfectly level surface on one or both sides of your slab.
