Finishing Options Information
No Work
The slab will not have any finish work done to it and will be shipped in the raw form.
Joint & Glue Up Table Top
Includes jointing and gluing the slabs together for one solid surface.
Flatten One Side Only
Includes having the slab(s) flattened on one side only, and the joint & glue up option, if itis offered with this item. The flattening will be done on our CNC machine, and will give you a level surface on one side. If there is a taper or any warping listed in the item description, the thickness of the slab will be reduced by that amount listed. You will select the side you'd like flattened on the item listing page.
Flatten Both Sides
Includes flattening on both sides of slab, and the joint and glue up if that is an option. This will be done on our CNC machine, and will give you a level surface on both sides. If there is a taper or a twist, the thickness of the slab will be reduced by that amount listed in the features section.
Prepare Slab for Finishing
Includes the joint and glue up if that is an option, flattening on both sides, and total preparation of the slab for finishing through machine and hand sanding to a 220 grit. When the slab arrives at your doorstep, it will be ready for you to apply your preferred finishing product. Straight cuts will be fresh cut, and could be squared up causing possible length reduction. If you do not want straight cuts changed, please include a note at checkout.
Finish Slab
Selected Side will be sanded to a 220 grit and sealed with 2-5 coats of finish to ensure a smooth, sealed top for your project. The bottom will be lightly sanded and sealed with 1-2 coats of finish to help protect the bottom side. Straight cuts will be fresh cut, and could be squared up causing possible length reduction. Epoxy Wood Filler is not included. If you do not want straight cuts changed, or if you are in need of filling the cracks and voids, please include a note at checkout.
**Wide Slabs and/or Table Tops may be shipped with temporary struts attached to help keep the slab flat during shipping. These will be mounted to the bottom side of the piece and can be easily removed upon receipt. **
Additional Services
Custom Cuts
Any of the slabs can be custom cut to your exact dimensions. If you need your slab(s) cut, please make note of this in the notes/comments box before you check out. This will need to be priced separately depending on how many cuts you need and the size of the slab(s).
Bark Removal
If you select a slab that has full or partial bark left on, you may add a bark removal charge to your order to remove it. Please make note of this in the notes/comments box before you check out. This will need to be priced separately depending on how much bark needs removed.
Epoxy
Epoxy Fill Services can be applied to the top of the item upon request. Filling cracks and voids on the top of a table creates a solid surface. The decision to use epoxy depends on factors such as budget and the intended use of the slab. For example, a bar top or a dining kitchen table may benefit from epoxy filler on the top to prevent crumbs and spills, while a sofa table or a live edge shelf may not require epoxy. Each piece and homeowner have unique needs, as well as each slab has its own unique needs. If listed in the item description that the slab has soft, punky or unstable areas, you may want to look at adding some epoxy to help harden or stabilize them before finishing.
If you would like an epoxy quote, please indicate it at checkout or contact us for a custom quote. Epoxy quotes are to fill in the cracks and voids on the top of the table top, unless the bottom is requested to be filled, or the bottom is noted in the quote. To help avoid losing too much thickness, if a taper is mentioned in the item description, epoxy can be used to fill in the underside tapers rather than flattening both sides to remove tapers completely. All epoxy is priced separately from our other finishing options available on the website.
